Lexi Pettengill
Clinician
As a fat-positive and genderqueer therapist, Lexi Pettengill, LSW, is passionate about creating a space where all bodies and identities are honored. Their work centers around helping clients heal from fatphobia, body shame, and the impact of systemic oppression, while building a more compassionate relationship with themselves. Lexi strives to create a therapeutic environment that feels affirming, curious, and grounded, a place where you can show up fully as you are.
Lexi specializes in eating disorders, body image, trauma, gender-affirming care, and emotional regulation. Their approach is relational and individualized, integrating Health at Every Size (HAES) principles with evidence-based modalities like DBT, CBT, and Internal Family Systems (IFS). Together, Lexi will explore what’s underneath the patterns that keep you feeling stuck and help you move toward healing that feels sustainable and self-directed.
Lexi received their Master’s degree from the Jane Addams College of Social Work at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and has worked in residential, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient settings supporting individuals and families through recovery and change. These experiences inform Lexi’s belief that there is no one right way to heal, only the way that feels most authentic to you.
At SpringSource, they offer in-person sessions in Northbrook, Chicago, and virtual therapy throughout Illinois. Their goal is to provide an inclusive, fat-positive, and neurodiversity-affirming space where clients can reconnect with their values, reclaim their voices, and begin their healing journey with compassion and pride.
